  • 2011 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team
    Chosen as one of 22 student-athletes for the 2011 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, recognizing a select group of college football players committed to making a difference in their communities. There were 132 nominations for the award this summer, and a special voting panel of former award winners and college football media selected 11 team members from NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision and 11 more from NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the NAIA.
  • Volunteer at Friends for Life
    Friends for Life is a non-profit organization that seeks to improve the quality of life for seniors and people with disabilities, particularly those who are without family to care for them. RG3 spends time playing games, watching movies, drawing and interacting with his friends.
  • Reads to Students as Part of One Book, One Waco
    One Book One Waco is a community-wide reading program and part of a larger nationally recognized movement that encourages the pursuit of education and literacy.
  • Guest Speaker at Area Schools
    RG3 has participated in numerous events at Central Texas schools. He has been a guest speaker at Midway High School, Groesbeck High School, Cedar Ridge Elementary School and his hometown Copperas Cove Junior High School.
  • Special Olympics Volunteer
    Griffin III volunteers with Special Olympics in the Heart of Texas area. The area has 1,015 athletes from 12 counties and offers aquatics, athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling, golf and softball.
  • Santa's Workshop Volunteer
    Santa's Workshop is an event presented by the Baylor Department of Student Activities to provide and uplifting Christmas experience for children from the Waco community. Children ranging in ages from 3-5 receive a gift from Santa that, for many of them, will be the only Christmas gift they receive.
  • Sickle Cell PSA
    RG3 participated in a public service announcement for sickle cell anemia awareness. It aired during National Sickle Cell Awareness Month in September of 2010.
  • Participated in Food For Families Canned Food Drive
    RG3 participated in the 15th annual Food For Families Food Drive, the largest one-day food drive in Texas. A coalition of food pantries across Central Texas banded together to collect non-perishable food in a one-day coordinated drive on the Friday before Thanksgiving.
  • 2011 NCAA Convention College Football Representative
    Griffin III was invited by NCAA President Mark Emmert to represent college football at the 2011 NCAA Convention in San Antonio, Texas. "I have two plans," RG3 told delegates. "Plan A is to go to law school after I finish my communications degree, and Plan B is to go to the NFL. If Plan B works out, thatâÂTMs fine, but if it doesn't, I always have Plan A."
  • Volunteer Summer Track Coach
    Every summer since 2008, RG3 has volunteered as a track coach at Five Hills Track & Field Club in his hometown of Copperas Cove, Texas. Before playing his first football game in a Baylor uniform, Griffin III finished third in the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships in 400-meter hurdles.
  • Mentor to Waco Independent School District Students
    Griffin III has spent time as an individual mentor to Waco area elementary, junior high and high school students who have been in trouble. He regularly visits with these students in an effort to help them succeed in school.
  • Talks to Athletes with Similar Injuries to the Knee Injury he Suffered in 2009.
    RG3 regularly takes calls from athletes who have recently suffered the same knee injury he went through in 2009. He explains what they can expect with the rehab process and how they can overcome such a serious injury and return to have successful athletic careers.
